You’ve heard good things about Coconut Water, but you went to the grocery store and suddenly you are trying to figure out the difference between Coconut Cream, Coconut Milk, and Coconut Water?!
How do you know when to use each one?
Here is a simple breakdown, and an easy way to remember the difference!
Coconut Water is made from unmatured green coconuts. You may have heard friends mentioning it is great for working out, and that’s because it is high in potassium!
Coconut Cream is often used in cooking, especially to make sauces, and desserts – Perfect for Vegan and Dairy Free treats! It’s richer and higher in fat than Coconut Water. Coconut Milk is an emulsion of both Coconut Water and Coconut Cream. This is why at cooler temperatures (like in your fridge) you’ll sometimes find that the cream solidifies and rises to the top.
Coconut Milk is an essential part of Thai and Indian Curries and is what helps give them such a distinct texture and flavour! Coconut Milk is also a great substitute for Vegan or Dairy Free diets.
